Groups
There are a number of active groups meeting and working within the community of Great Alne. If you would like your details put onto the website, or a link to your own web page then please let us know by contacting the Parish Clerk. This space can also be used to advertise local events such as cinema evenings, litter picks, or fund raising events at the Memorial Hall and Primary School.
Great Alne & Kinwarton Memorial Hall:
The Memorial Hall is used extensively for events and activities (including Film Club, Live and Local events, WI, tap dancing, art groups and classes, Folk dancing and a Dog Club) throughout the year by the village community generally, and by Great Alne school in particular. The annual village BBQ in July is always a great success. The Memorial Hall is also available for hire. Please use the external link on the right of the page to view their website.
Womens Institute:
The Great Alne and Kinwarton WI was founded in 1921 and by 1945 had 60 members. The current 45 ladies listen to a speaker each month and enjoy refreshments afterwards. The meetings are lively and informative and it is a great time to catch up with friends and neighbours. The group meets at the Great Alne and Kinwarton Memorial Hall on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm. Guests are welcome.
Great Alne Cricket Club:
The present cricket club at Great Alne was founded in 1899. However, there was a cricket club in the village prior to this which was probably started in the 1860's. Originally the present cricket club was in Mill Lane but moved to its current location on Henley Road when the Maudslay Motor Company moved to the village in 1942.
